In the space of just 10 years, CEIM has directly supported – by means of ‘incubation’ – around 55 micro-firms in the region and has assisted more than 200 regional firms.
CEIM provides promoters of innovative ideas with dynamic support, acting as a talent pool and bringing together different operational skills and abilities crucial to business start-up and development. As a true strategic partner, CEIM aims to provide support, helping to create conditions that will favour the appearance of micro/small businesses, by bringing to life entrepreneurship, modernization and business innovation.
CEIM arose as a result of a public-private partnership. This is why CEIM is an instrument used in regional development. Created in 1997 and presently under the tutelage of the Vice-Presidency of the Regional Government, CEIM is the entity responsible in the Autonomous Region of Madeira for the application of the “Business Innovation Centres Program” (EC BICs). CEIM could be described as a strategic partnership which aims to provide extra support in the creation of favourable conditions that allow for the stimulation of the creation of micro and small firms by means of the dynamization of entrepreneurship, modernization and business innovation. mission To be an instrument in regional development supporting entrepreneurs in the act of implementing their innovative business projects in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, right from the first step, through the development and expansion phase, providing fertile ground for entrepreneurship, namely for the younger age groups, acting as a bridge and central contact point for an entrepreneurial ecosystem. vision CEIM sees itself as reference point in bringing innovation and entrepreneurship to the public in the Autonomous Region of Madeira by means of skills and experiences.
objectives Contribute to the diversification and growth of the economy in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, focussing specifically on innovative business activity:
- Help entrepreneurs to carry out their innovative business project ideas at various levels;
- Create a propitious atmosphere for the development of entrepreneurship in the Autonomous Region of Madeira;
- Be recognised as a reliable and accredited reference in terms of its role in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and industrial property;
- Serve as a link between the various regional institutions that are directly or indirectly involved in CEIM’s intervention areas;
- Be an active element in the European “Business Innovation Centres Network – EBN” and the “Portuguese Association of Business Innovation Centres – BICS”
